The 2019 Ford Edge, a five-passenger midsize SUV, features a stylish appearance paired with vast technological updates. This vehicle recently underwent almost a complete overhaul, featuring a more powerful exterior along with a high-tech and luxurious interior. Combine that with numerous standard safety features, and the Edge is a vehicle to consider.

Trim Levels

For the 2019 Ford Edge, you can choose among four trims, including the SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST. New for 2019 is the ST trim, which replaces the previous Edge Sport trim. The Edge's exterior underwent a few updates, as it has new front styling, hood design, and standard LED headlights. You can opt for a few external upgrades, including LED fog lights, LED running lights, and additional aluminum wheel options.

The standard engine choice for the SE, SEL, and Titanium trims is a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder EcoBoost. The ST trim comes with a twin-turbocharged, 2.7-liter, V-6 EcoBoost engine, which provides 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission comes with the twin-turbo V-6 engine, and you can use paddle shifters and the Sport driving mode alongside it.

With the 2019 Edge's SE, SEL, and Titanium trims, expect to get an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The ST trim gets about 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. All-wheel drive comes standard with the ST trim, and it uses sensors to monitor traction and help you maneuver through different types of weather and road conditions.

In addition, the ST trim comes standard with the trailer tow package, while you can upgrade to receive it on the SEL and Titanium trims. This feature gives you a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds and automatically detects if the trailer is swaying. If it is, the Edge applies the brakes or reduces engine torque to keep the trailer and vehicle under control.

Inside the Edge, expect to find a redesigned center console and new rotary knob for the driver to select the gears. You also get 39.2 cubic feet of cargo room behind the second row of seats. With this SUV, you receive a plethora of technology features, including the standard FordPass Connect with a smartphone app. This digital platform lets you remotely control your Edge, find parking, and control certain features and functions.

Other standard features include SYNC with voice-recognition software and a Wi-Fi hotspot where you can connect up to 10 devices. Upgrades available include the SYNC 3 infotainment system paired with an 8-inch touch-screen display, wireless device charging, a 12-speaker audio system, and 180-degree front and rear camera system.
